Even the mouse has troubles sometimes

Published by Pyrofenix under Main on October 14, 2005

Life isn’t perfect and shiny all the time. Not even for those ficticious characters that we all loved at one time or another. It seems Mickey Mouse tried to end his life in the 1930’s (as evidenced by this cartoon)

I’m pissed!

I’ve been a supporter for Vizaweb for quite awhile now. They’ve been hosting my site for over a year and in that time have been great answering any questions or concerns I had very quickly. That is, until 2 days ago. On Sunday I checked my mail and noticed I had no messages. That is odd, as i’m usually getting some notification i’ve signed up for or even spam at a minimum. So I sent myself a test message from my work address and it bounced back giving me an error saying “Administrative Prohibition” whatever that means.

I went to bed and got up the next morning hoping it would have resolved itself but it hadn’t. I sent off an e-mail (from my work address) and got a support ticket number from Vizaweb’s support team. Since then, nothing. I’ve sent them 2 e-mails which have gone unanswered and I STILL can’t get any mail. As each hour passes without any sort of contact I’m getting angrier. I’ve been happy with Vizaweb until the last few days (and I just recently paid for 6mos. hosting) so switching to a new host right now is less than ideal but i’m beginning to wonder if that isn’t what they are leaving me with.

Serenity Flies High

SerenityOn saturday I braved one of the local shopping malls - in fact THE shopping mall of GA to spend some time with a bunch of strangers sharing an experience. Serenity opened this past Friday and I’ve been itching to see if it would bring back to life the short-lived TV series that FOX assassinated. The premise of the series took a fairly straightforward genre and added a twist. Set 500 years in the future, the crew of the Firefly class ship - Serenity, take on odd jobs on the outskirts of the galaxy in order to keep off the radar of the Alliance. The show took to space with a western style with a touch of Chinese (that’s how they curse in the future apparently). The strength of the show was built upon amazing writing executed by a tight-knit ensemble cast led by Nathon Fillion as Capt’n Malcolm Reynolds. The movie does a great job of not losing those of you who missed out on the tv series while not boring those of us existing fans. It also brings the effects up to a level that the show never had the funds for. Again though, the high point of the film is the writing!

In what I hope is only the first outting of the crew of Serenity, they have taken Dr. Simon Tam and his unbalanced sister River aboard under their protection. Simon broke his sister out of a facility run by The Alliance and the Alliance wants her back before any secrets her telepathic abilities have absorbed become public.

Unfortunately, unlike with a TV series, there isn’t enough time for each character to get their time in the spotlight and a few characters share the back burner for much of the film. I wait with baited breath for the announcement of a sequel because there is a lot more story to tell here. So go see this movie while it’s still in theaters to make sure I get my sequels!
