Almost forgot

Published by Pyrofenix under Photos on August 28, 2006

On my drive south from DC back home, I stopped at a huge gas station to fill up. Walked around to the pump and noticed not the usual 3 options (87,89, and 91 or 93 octane) but also a 95 octane option. I had to go for that since it was only $2.91 and I know that my car really liked 93 octane.

So here is a photo of the 95 octane pump that I forgot to post before.

“Where you at?!”

Published by Pyrofenix under Main on August 25, 2006

I’m packing up all my dirty clothes and will be headed back south with ‘Georgia on my Mind’ as my vacation comes to an end.  It’s been a lot of fun spending time on Chris and Heidi’s couch, and goofing off.  Sorry that I couldn’t spend more time up here, but duty calls.

Just wanted to say thank you to you two hoohaas for putting up with me for a week.  For anyone interested, i’ll be using my ‘where you at’ phone again as a tracking device.  Play where is Tim now by clicking here.

Visiting the coolest shit in DC

Published by Pyrofenix under Main on August 25, 2006

My partner in crime while I’m here in DC took me to visit the coolest shit in the DC area. Driving out toward Dulles airport and hanging a left you reach the Udvar-Hazy Center. The building is at the end of one of the runways at Dulles and looks to be an airplane hangar with a very awesome modern design. Inside there are three levels of various aircraft either hung from the ceiling or parked in the floor of the hanger. By far, the coolest exhibit is the SR-71 prominently displayed right as you walk into the hangar. I’ve always thought these were awesome machines but seeing them in person is incredibly cool.

Nearing the scene of the incompetence…

I found out who / what was the cause of the miles of trafffic out in the middle of nowhere on 85. Hope no one is expecting a package because I might have seen it on the highway.

After seeing what the fed-ex dude hit, I suspect he might have fallen asleep and tried to correct it before he hit the bridge. Alas, he had one of the 2-trailer trucks so the rear trailer got the brunt of the damage.

Where’s Waldo?

Forget waldo…do you know where I am?

Earlier this evening I got a new project / toy working. Using one of those pre-paid cellphones from Boost Mobile, I installed a piece of software on the phone that uses a GPS chip on the phone and transmits my position to the website. I thought this would be a neat project since I will be leaving on Friday morning and driving up to DC where I’ll spend about a week before driving home. You should be able to check out this page that I created to see how I’m progressing in the 600+ mile trip.

I’ll make another post when I get back detailing the process in getting Mologogo running on the phone and using it on your own website.

Nike run: Week 3

Published by Pyrofenix under Running on August 12, 2006

I woke up this morning to find overcast skies and reports of thunderstorms but the temperature was only around 80 degrees. A vast improvement over last week. I think my results prove that it was an improvement.

I came to a conclusion about using the ipod while running. I need to concentrate more on my pace. I think last week my problem was that I was running to the speed of the music rather than my comfort pace. As AC/DC started to play, I realized that my feet naturally started to hit the pavement on beat and how that was a bad thing. I slowed down a bit and checked my speed and I was back within pace. Much better!
